Latest Visits & Business

Hi all, its been a few weeks since the last post but due to a good reason – being busy with work which means things are moving forward with the TSC Academy and our Road to Rio towards the Street Child World Cup in Brazil 2104.  The past couple of weeks I have welcomed some visitors (who have now left), John the  founder of the Street Child World Cup and Martin (chair of Cheka Sana, the UK fundraising charity that supports our work here in Tanzania).

For me it has involved showing these guys around our project, making preparations for future projects and going to Dar es Salaam to meet with people there to drum up support for our work and for sponsorship to get the team to Brazil! It was great for the guys to have a reunion having not met since the SCWC in 2010 – and in the picture you can see the 2010 t-shirt and the new 2014 t-shirt!

I think today I’ll just let some of the pictures do the talking.

As part of the visit we went to Musoma to visit someone from their home church who is volunteering on a project GO M.A.D. (associated with Tearfund) there. It was also a chance to see some girls from Naomi’s parents home church who we had met during our Christmas UK visit who were also there. And equally a chance to get some nice shots of lake birds like the groups of Little Egrets and the Weavers that gather in the trees.

On our trip to Dar we stayed at an Italian NGO called CEFA which was nice and friendly but with without doubt THE worst breakfast ever (although I guess they offered one at least)

and it was nice to have a choice of 4 beds in my room, plus it had air conditioning – a 1st for me in Tanzania!

and the first budget place (TSH40,000 – £16 for a single but with no wifi as advertised) I have stayed in to offer me a bday!

Meetings were productive with some views over Dar from posh, highrise towers (view looking towards the port)

but it also wasn’t bad catching up on some emails just in front of the Indian Ocean….

Now just for all the follow up work to make sure the visit was productive and we get some support for TSC and the Tanzanian team for SCWC 2014!
