Happy Easter!

I think Easter has become my favourite Christian holiday of the year. Despite being a Christian for many years, recently thanks to some really great friends and personal study I have been learning lots about what I believe was achieved when Jesus died on the cross and rose again all those years ago – we are no longer separated from God and He has achieved everything!

Our Easter has consisted of a 4 day weekend which has been great – just the chance to recharge and the chance for celebration! Church this morning was a great celebration – video below to give you an idea!

We’ve also got some word clouds printed to brighten up our house with some words of encouragement…. Micah 6 verse 8: He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.  And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

Romans 12: 1-2 (from the message) – So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

And one we saw in someone elses house as a reminder of how blessed we are!

Otherwise, there was a big match at the stadium where local team Toto played one of Tanzania’s big clubs Simba SC. A few of us went along and after receiving quite a bit of stick for wearing my red England shirt in the home end (red is the colour of the away team Simba – everyone else in red was ejected and told to move) it was a good game (2-2) with action both on and off the pitch.

A Simba fan parading their flag round the pitch on his motorbike had it nicked - by the guy in yellow climbing back into the stands. They proceded to burn the flag and I guess nick his keys as his bike didn't move after the incident
